Ibanez RG Cow
This guitar was built in 2010 by Fabio Molinelli, it’s a very special RG guitar.
The neck comes from a S Prestige seris, so it’s a 22 frets one.
The body features a mahogany block in the middle, two basswood sides and a maple top. Pickups are EMG and the bridge comes from a Music Man guitar, it’s a standard tromolo, very smooth and sensible to use.
Machine heads are Shaller locking tuners, controls are Volume, Tone and a 5 way switch. Of course it’s cow painted ;-)
RG Sebo Custom
This guitar was built in 2003 by Ibanez in the Japanese factory, it was mad under my specifications. You can like it or not, but I can say they built exactly in the way I thought to it!
It’s a 24 frets RG, neck thru (maple neck and rosewood fingerboard) with mahogany body and quilted maple top.
The brige is the Gibraltar III, same as teh ZS prestige series with passing thru strings.
The pickups are DiMarzio Bluesbucker in the neck position and a AT1 in the bridge.
Orginally I asked for a Tone Zone in the bridge but I recently switched to the AT1.
Machine heads are Shaller locking tuner.
SZ 1220 Prestige Cow
This guitar has been played by Marty Friedman in 2003 for some clinics, then I got it and I made my customization.
First of all a nice flat cow finish properly done by Fabio Molinelli.
I put a DiMarzio D Activaton in the bridge position and an Evolution in the neck.
I removed one volume control (2 separate volumes are too much in my opinion) and i replaced it wit a coil split mini switch, that makes this guitar really versatile!
Machine heads are Grover.
Ibanez S7420
This guitar is a gift from Doug Doppler, a Favored Nations artist.
It’s an Ibanez S7420 that was pleked by Doug, then I replaced the original LoTrs bridge with a Lo Pro Edge one tha I blocked in a way you can’t pull it up, it works only pushing it, Van Halen style.
Pickups are DiMarzio Tone Zone 7 in the bridge position and Air Norton 7 in the neck.
Ibanez RG2228
This guitar was given to me by Ibanez when the Strings24 project started.
It’s the first 8 strings electrig guitar ever made by Ibanez and originally it featured EMG active bass pickups. I replaced those pickups with DiMarzio D Activator 8 and now the sound is tighter and less compressed. I also put a 5 way switch so I can get more sounds from this instrument.
The neck is really huge but being a Prestige guitar every detail is done with maximum care, that means great playability e top comfort!
All the features like the LoPro fixed bridge are stock, co you can chec on the Ibanez website to read all the specs.
Ibanez RG550XX DY
This guitar is a reissue of the 1987 model, the only difference is the neck, it’s made with modern specs and it’s the fastest one I’ve ever tried!
The bridge is the original Edge, it has very high profile compared to the models Ibanez makes now, but it’s very reliable and it keeps a good tuning.
I replaced the original pickups with DiMarzio Tone Zone and Air Norton.
Ibanez RG8420 J Custom
This guitar is a gift from Ibanez, I got it in 2010, it’s a superbe masterpiece of the Japanese factory handcraft. Every single detail is simply amazing!
I love the purple color and the Edge Zero bridge makes this guitar impossible to keep out of tuning!
It’s the only Seymour Duncan equipped guitar I own.
Ibanez RG Sustainer
I assembled this guitar using a RG Prestige neck with 24 frets (maple + rosewood fingerboard) and a RG350 basswood body.
The bridge is an Edge Pro and the electronic is the Sustainer circuit by Fernandes.
It’s a very nice and funny toy when you wanna play with feedback even at a very low volume!
Ibanez DN500
I started using this guitar for some Ibanez clinics and I felt in love with it!
It’s so LesPauly! Great tone, great neck and a very versatile electronic, thanx to the coil split switch on the tone control
Ibanez AT100
This guitar is the number 32 of the first very limited edition Ibanez made in the ‘90s.
I left it totally stock and I still have the original case, signed backplate and certificte of autenticity. Andy himself played it live a couple of times.
Ibanez AT300
This guitar is a gift from Andy Timmons, it’s actually a prototype of the AT300 model that was released later, infact it features a single volume control, all the other specs are identical to the stock version.
I worked with Andy for a clinic tour in 2005, at the end of the last clinic he grabbed this guitar and he gave it to me, so kind from him!
Ibanez MFM 2
This guitar featured only one humbucker pick up in the bridge, he had no volume, just an on-off switch, because Marty Friedman wanted it that way.
Fabio Molinelli added the neck pick up and the three way switch.
Pick ups are DiMarzio Virtual PAF.
Marty himself played this guitar during a lot of clinics here in Italy
Ibanez VBT700 Cow
This guitar is stock except for the Schaller locking Tuners and, of course, the cow finish that I made with a simple black tape paper ;-)
I love the stock DiMarzio D Activator pick ups, they sound great on this guitar, so powerful on riffs and great on solos!
Ibanez RG7321
This one was my first 7 strings guitar, I kept it stock but I think I’m gonna put a couple of DiMarzio to get that tight and warm tone!
Ibanez AE50
I love this old acoustic model, it has a great action so it’s really easy to play.
I love the “all maple” look, of course its tone is pretty bright , but I think it’s really amazing!
Ibanez AC240
A very “easy to play” all mahogany guitar!
Grover tuner are stock on this guitar, you get great quality for a very few money!
Fender Stratocaster American Standard
This is a regular 2010 American Standard guitar, I replaced the stock pickups with DiMarzio Virtual Vintage ‘54 Pro, then I put Fender locking tuners and a Fender rolling nut. I actually felt in love with Jeff Beck style ;-)
Fender Stratocaster Vintage Reissue ‘54
This guitar is totally stock, I don’t think I’m gonna customize it in any way, I just wanna have a nice Eric Clapton style guitar
Fender Stratocaster Classic ’62
This is a Mexican strat pretty customized ;-) Fabio Molinelli thrown the body into the fireplace ;-) then he put this amazing used brass pickguard and a set of Fender Texas Special pickups.
Gibson Les Paul Custom HD
This is a 1990 Les Paul Custom, the original colour was Artic White, the it turned Ivory after 15 years, so I asked to Fabio Molinelli to change the finish putting a big Harley Davidson logo on the top.
The neck is now oil finished and the section is smaller compared to the stock one.
Pick ups are a Gibson Classic 57 plus in the bridge and a Classic 57 in the neck.
Gibson Les Paul Custom Cow
This one is a 1995 Les Paul Custom, originally White, it was customized by Fabio Molinelli, he made the same work on the case, very cool!
Pick ups are Gibson Classic 57.
Gibson Les Paul Standard
This guitar is a model used in the past to test Gibson pickups, I put a couple of Gibson Classic 57 pickups grabbed from an ES175 model.
I love that Joe Perry look!
Music Man Luke BFR
I worked with Steve Lukather for some clinics in 2008 and he asked for a BFR, Ball Family Reserve model. At the end of these clinic I decided to buy this guitar for me of course!
Steve came again in 2009 and he borrowed this guitar, he likes it a lot!
This instrument was absolutely the main inspiration when I designed the Ibanz RG Cow on top of this gear list.
Traveler Guitar EG-1
I got this guitar to go to rehearsal by motorcycle ;-)
It’s actually a pretty playable guitar with a regular scale, I replaced the original pick up with a DiMarzio Evolution and of course I made the cow pattern process ;-)
Variax 700 acoustic
This is a very intersting instrument if you need to experiment with some unusual sounds like a sitar or something similar, pretty good if you need to record an acoustic guitar and you don’t have time to mic it properly ;-)
Great also for no feedback live performances!
Epiphone Spider Squareneck
This rezophonic guitar features a squareneck, so it’s one of those guitars you have to paly on your knees with a slide bar.
It sounds great...even if I’m not a slide virtuoso of course ;-)
Ibanez SR405
I record a lot of bass tracks in my songs with this cheap buy incredibly reliable 5 strings bass. The finish is cracked due to a finish defect goin’ on at the time (1995), but I like it even more this way!
Fender Precision ’51
I love ZZTop, so when I saw this bass guitar a felt in love immediately...and I got it! It’s totally stock of course.
Ovation MM68 Mandolin
This mandolin is a small Ovation Custom Legend, made in USA, great instrument, great tone and amazing preamp. My friend Matt Smith drove me into the mandolin thing, I love this instrument!
Ovation MCS148 Mandolin
This is a Korean vesion of the MM68, it’s cheaper of course, but it’s still a great instrument, easily playable and great sounding!
Honer Lanikai Ukulele
I felt in love with the Ukulele when I watched a Jake Shimabukuro video on YouTube, so I got this tenor uke on line, I love it, it’s actually my favourite holiday instrument ;-)
Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier
This is a classic choice in the rock/metal area ;-) I got the cow version thanx to the great Mesa Boogie guys. I usually use original Mesa Boogie tubes, that lets me replace them without fixing any bias. I use the Orange channel 90% of the time ;-)
Mesa Boogie Stiletto II
This is a real rock weapon! I love the Stiletto tone! You can get a great crunch sound, nice and fluid solo tone and a great clean channel lets you go very close to the super classic clean amps world. This is a pretty versatile amp!
Laney CUB Head
This is great sounding little beast! Single channel, great overdrive sound, only 15 watts of pure tubes! I love it! It’s great for home recording, you can get a great tone at a very reasonable volume level.
Dragoon 2x12”
This is a cab made in Florence, Italy. VERY light and really good sounding! You can easily open the back to change the sound or to mic it behind the speakers. They were so kind to do the cow version for me ;-)
These are the pedals I own now, I actually use a very few effects, mainly a Delay in the amp loop and an Overdirve in the front.
Delays are a very hard choice, it depens a lot from the loop circuit you’re placing them, but the same pedal could sound great with an amp and terrible with another one.
I often use the Ibanez DE7, it’ s pretty cheap but it always gives me a good result.
When I need a Chorus I usually get the Danalectro Cool Cat, but I love the Airplane Flanger sound as well.
I always used the Cry Baby wah, but I’m now using the Ibanez WD7 Jr, good sounding, road tested and very sensible.
My friend Rob Balducci brought me into the Xotic pedals world, they’re really great pedals! The BB Preamp is really creamy and warm sounding and the EP Booster, well, I wouldn’t never turn it off!
